A ring that fits well is one you will want to wear every day. You can find your size at home in a few minutes with items you already have. Here is how.
What you need
- A strip of paper or a piece of string, no wider than half an inch (1.4 cm)
- A ruler with millimeters
- A pen
Step by step
- Wrap it around your finger. Wrap the strip around the base of the finger you will wear the ring on.
- Mark where it overlaps. Mark the spot where the end meets the strip, forming a full circle.
- Lay it flat and measure. Measure from the end to your mark, in millimeters.
- Find your size. Enter your measurement in the ring size finder on our Sizing Guide, or check our ring size conversion chart, which also shows UK, EU and Japan sizes.
Tips for an accurate size
- Measure at the end of the day. Fingers are slightly larger then.
- Avoid measuring when your hands are cold. Cold fingers shrink and give a size that is too small.
- Measure two or three times, and use the same finger each time.
- Think about your knuckle. If your knuckle is much larger than the base of your finger, the ring has to slide over it. Choose a size in between.
Between two sizes?
Most people prefer the slightly larger size. Wide bands also feel tighter, so for a very wide ring, consider going up a quarter to half a size.
